Low Fat French Toast

I am a breakfast food junkie. I never leave the house on an empty stomach. I wouldn’t call this a quick recipe. It does take some time, so I made this on a day off. This is my version of french toast which is OMS friendly and super low fat.

RECIPE:

Serves 2

Preparation time: 10 mins

Cooking time: 20 mins

Saturated fat per serving: 0.5 g

Ingredients:

4 slices of multigrain bread

5 egg whites

¾ cup almond milk

1 tsp vanilla essence

Cinnamon

Pinch of salt

Banana

Strawberries

Sliced almonds

Maple syrup

Step 1: In a large bowl, beat together the egg whites, almond milk, cinnamon, salt and vanilla essence.

Step 2: Slice the bread as desired and dunk it in the bowl. Allow it to rest till all the batter has soaked the bread.

Step 3: Preheat oven to 400˚F. Add a touch of olive oil to a non stick pan. Cook the soaked bread on the pan for a couple of minutes on each side and then pop it in the oven on a large tray. Let it bake for about 7 minutes on each side. I bake it so it gets extra crunchy and nicely cooked through.

Step 4: Serve with maple syrup, fruit and nuts of your choice!
