Welcome to my blog! I’m here to share my story of how I manage MS, being a pilot, a mom and a type A crazy person.

I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in early 2015, and my goal is to remain relapse free, by overhauling my lifestyle. In doing so, the following books have become my bible(s):

So What is Multiple Sclerosis? MS involves the body’s immune system attacking the central nervous system (CNS); nerve fibre is damaged or destroyed, nerve impulses travelling to and from the brain and spinal cord are distorted or interrupted, producing a wide variety of symptoms. MS is an auto immune, chronic, progressive condition, the cause and cure, of which are both, still unknown.

While MS resonates with absolute doom and gloom, there is an abundance of hope, and that is what this blog is about!

I refuse to believe that a chronic illness equals defeat.

Who is this blog for? It’s for anyone who wants to eat their way to great health. The lifestyle changes mentioned here, combat chronic inflammation. Inflammation is a normal immune response in your body. Chronic inflammation is when your body no longer has the ability to turn off the inflammatory response and it starts damaging healthy tissue in your body.

Chronic inflammatory diseases are heart disease, cancer, autoimmune disease like multiple sclerosis, ulcerative colitis, crohn’s disease or rheumatoid arthritis.

Each lifestyle choice we make is a step towards, or away from inflammation.

We are truly blessed to be living in the information age. Educating yourself is the key to dispelling fear around a diagnosis.

I believe in being a warrior, and taking control of my life. If you’re on board with me, read on!

I grew up in India, and live in Boston, MA now. I am a flight instructor. Aviation happened to me by accident (No pun intended there!).

Once upon a time, I wanted to work for the government, like my parents did (yes I wanted that special ‘pull’ ;-)). I could not, however, pass those dreadfully competitive exams. So, I decided to apply to flight school in the United States, and thought that if it was meant to be, it would be, without any hitches. And so it happened.

I was lucky to have great opportunities come my way, and fortunate to train with one of the best in the profession, here in Boston.

The thought of my pilot’s license being taken away from me, due to my diagnosis was terrifying. But I also have faith in how this great country operates. The rules/ regulations are not set in stone. Opportunity is given to those who are able and capable. I remember once reading about a pilot who took flight lessons and earned her pilot’s license, even though she has no arms. So after a few weeks of paper work and medical examinations, I was given a green flag from the Aviation Medical Examiner to resume flying.

I have grown to love flying even more now!

Other than flying, I enjoy cooking, and that’s because I enjoy good food.

My husband loves the outdoors, and with him, I’ve grown to admire nature even more. He photographs birds and landscapes when he’s not writing code, and so we spend most weekends watching birds, going on jungle safaris or stopping by ponds and lakes for picnics, depending on where we are!

Update: We were blessed with a beautiful baby boy in June, 2017. He is an absolute joy! I am grateful that I am healthy and can give him my 100%.

  1. Wow. That is very inspirational. We are on the same path, but I am avoiding heart disease. I have been on a whole foods, plant based diet for seven months with incredible results. I wish you the very best and I’m so proud of you!


  2. I am also following OMS program and am right there with you in every thing you say! 2 years diagnosed, just one year fully OMS and I am doing great too….loads of energy, down to my 20s weight (I’m in my 40s!) and happy, hopeful and grateful!
